Accessibility check under the German BFSG for websites and apps, 250 EUR

Since 28 June 2025 the German Accessibility Strengthening Act (Barrierefreiheitsstärkungsgesetz, BFSG), which implements the European Accessibility Act, requires online shops, booking platforms, banking apps and other services in electronic commerce that are offered to consumers in Germany to be accessible to people with disabilities. The act applies to providers outside the EU as well, as soon as their services are directed at consumers in Germany, and the market surveillance authorities of the German states can order a service to be withdrawn from the market. Micro-enterprises with fewer than ten employees and an annual turnover below 2 million EUR are exempt for services. We examine for a fixed fee of 250 EUR whether the act applies to your website or app and what has to be done.

What the check covers

We first determine whether your company and your offer fall under the act, which depends on the type of service, the consumer market in Germany and the size of your company. If the act applies, we examine the website or app against the requirements of the act and the technical standard EN 301 549, which refers to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines at level AA, and review the accessibility statement that the act requires. You receive a written report in English listing the defects found, their legal weight and what has to be changed, so that your developers can work from it. If we conclude that the act does not apply to you, the fee is reduced and you receive a short written statement to that effect, which you can show to business partners who ask.

Several websites or apps

Each additional website or app of the same company is checked for a surcharge of 50 percent, so 125 EUR. Apps are examined in the published version on iOS or Android.

Accessibility statement

Service providers under the act must publish an accessibility statement describing how the service meets the requirements. If you instruct us for the check, we draft this statement in English and German as part of the follow-up work, which we quote separately.

Prices are net attorney fees. For business clients outside Germany no German VAT is added.

How to instruct us

Send us the details through the form below. You will receive our confirmation and, where required, our questions in English within one working day. We correspond in English throughout the mandate.
